Content rules
Last updated: 5 September 2026
Reviews and public lists are visible to other people. These are the rules for them.
They are short on purpose: a rule nobody can remember is a rule nobody follows.
Not allowed
- Harassment. Going after a person — abuse, threats, pile-ons,
posting someone's private information.
- Hate. Attacking people over race, ethnicity, national origin,
religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
- Sexual content. Explicit or suggestive material. Discussing a
game's sexual content is fine; being explicit is not.
- Violence and threats. Threatening harm, or celebrating real-world
violence. Writing about violence in a game is the normal business of a game
review.
- Spam. Advertising, referral links, repetitive posting, reviews
that are not about the game.
- Unmarked spoilers. Mark them with the spoiler toggle. It exists so
you can write freely.
- Impersonation of another person, a studio, or Gamelyx.
- Illegal content, including anything that sexualises a minor. This
is reported to the authorities, not merely removed.
Fine, and stays fine
Disliking a game, disagreeing loudly with a popular opinion, a one-star review of
something beloved, strong language about a game. A negative review is not
harassment, and reporting one because you disagree with it does not make it so.
What happens when something is reported
- A person reads the report. Reporting does not remove anything by itself, and
volume does not either — ten reports on a fair review is still a fair review.
- If it breaks a rule, the content is hidden from everyone. The author keeps their
account and their library; only that post comes down.
- Repeatedly breaking the rules, or a single serious breach, can cost the account.
We are a small operation, so a report may wait a day or two. If you do not want to
see someone at all, block them — that takes effect immediately and does
not wait for us.
If your content was removed
Email support@gamelyx.app and say what was
removed. Takedowns get reversed when they were wrong.
